Alfredo Nunzi is Head of Department at the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (EUROPOL), which he joined in 2001.  As Head of the Administration, he is in charge of the human, financial and facilities resources of the Agency.  Previously, he had served as Secretary of the EUROPOL Management Board and Head of the Secretariat with overall responsibility for the work of the Agency’s governing organ.

From 1998 to 2001, he was the Director of the Siracusa International Institute for criminal justice and human rights; during this period, he also participated in the negotiations of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime as a member of the Italian delegation and of the drafting committee.

From 1990 to 1998, he served with the United Nations at various duty stations specializing in international cooperation in criminal matters, particularly the fight against organized crime and terrorism and technical cooperation activities in the Western Balkans.

Alfredo Nunzi holds a degree in law from Universitá degli Studi La Sapienza di Roma and a doctorate in criminal law from Université de Nantes.
