Important in medieval times, Modica is an attractive historic town 70 Km away from Siracusa. The city is situated in the Hyblaean Mountains. Its architecture has been recognised as excellent examples of the Baroque period, as well in the Val di Noto. Modica is famous for its chocolate, which is still produced according to an ancient Aztec recipe.
